Many of you know me as one of the long-time riders of Harbor to the Bay. Matter of fact, this will be year 13 (and 12 as a rider). Participating as a rider is just one of the ways that I help to fight the good fight against HIV/AIDS.
I’m also a NH-State certified HIV/STD counselor. I received my certification in 2007 – the same year that I started to participate with #H2B. During the last 12 years, I’ve been putting my counseling skills to work at the Joan Lovering Health Center (formerly the Feminist Health Center) in Greenland, NH. I volunteer 1-2x a month during their scheduled walk-in nights. I’ve had the great pleasure to work with all manner of patients, some who get tested routinely and others who need an ear to listen and words of wisdom when they are truly concerned for their health status.
In addition, some of the staff of the Joan Lovering Health Center have helped us out at pit stop # 6 in Brewster. It’s been a great partnership and one that truly fills me with purpose, in much the same way as #H2B.
Please consider donating to #H2B. It’s an amazing event that does so much great work for so many working to end HIV/AIDS in our lifetime!
